Adding funds to your balance
Updated 2 min read
A deposit, or top-up, puts money on your balance, and the balance pays for orders, renewals and bandwidth top-ups. A deposit does not expire and is not tied to any product: spend it on whatever you order.
Today you pay by card. Cryptocurrency and PayPal are coming soon.
Before you start
Confirm your email address. Until you do, the deposit page asks you to, and no deposit goes through. See Creating an account and confirming your email.
Add funds
- Click Add funds in the top bar (on a phone, open the menu first), or open Billing in the side menu and click Add funds on the balance card.
- Type an Amount or click one of the preset amounts. The line under the field shows the minimum.
- Under Payment method, choose the card and enter it in the form that opens, or pick a saved card. Card details go to our payment processor, not to us, and a new card is saved for next time unless you already have the most saved cards allowed.
- Click Deposit to pay.
A payment fee can be added to the deposit. It is listed on the deposit's invoice as a Payment fee line, and the Amount column under Billing > Deposits shows the total you paid.
Watch it arrive
The deposit's own page tracks it through Deposit created, Payment, Confirmed by the provider and Funds in your balance. You can leave the page; it keeps going without you. When it finishes, the page reads "Your funds are ready" and shows your new balance.
Every deposit is listed under Billing > Deposits, and each completed one produces an invoice. See Invoices, receipts and the details printed on them. Every movement of the balance is under Transactions on the Billing page; see Where your balance went: the transactions list.
Good to know
- Saved cards are managed under Billing > Payment methods, where you can also set a default.
- Automatic deposits can refill the balance from a saved card when it runs low. See Automatic deposits.
- An identity check can be asked for before a deposit goes through, typically once your deposits add up past a certain total. See Identity verification: when we ask and how to complete it.
- Refunds of unused balance are covered in Refunds: what comes back, where it goes, how to ask.
