Buying residential traffic and adding more

Updated 2 min read

Residential is coming soon and cannot be ordered yet. This page describes how it works. ISP and datacenter proxies are on sale now: see Residential, ISP or datacenter: picking the line for the job.

How ordering will work

Residential is sold in gigabytes, from one up to a thousand per order, and an order needs a confirmed email address. Once it opens:

  1. Open Proxies > Residential in the side menu and click Buy Residential, or click Buy now on the Residential card on Home.
  2. Under Number of GB, pick a package (Starter, Standard, Advanced) or type your own figure in Enter custom amount. The rate per gigabyte drops as the order grows, and the Order summary shows the total.
  3. Click Continue. If we ask Do you need an invoice?, answer it: without an invoice you only confirm your country; with one, fill in Billing details or click Enter billing details later.
  4. On Payment, choose Account balance or a card, and click Complete order. If the page says Identity verification required, nothing has been charged; see Identity verification: when we ask and how to complete it.

The order page then shows Order placed, Payment, Provisioning and Ready to use. When it is ready, the proxy is listed under Proxies > Residential with its gateway and credentials. See Connecting to residential.

There is no country, city or provider to pick: residential exits come from the whole pool.

Adding more traffic

On the proxy's page, Buy bandwidth on the Status card adds traffic: pick an amount under Bandwidth to add and confirm. It is charged once, from your balance. The same action is in the proxy list's row menu as Buy bandwidth. A new order works too, at the rate its own size earns.

Keeping an eye on it

The Capacity card shows Bandwidth used against the total and warns you when it is nearly spent. See Where your traffic goes, and why the meter and your logs disagree.

If an order does not arrive

An order that is paid but still being set up shows Pending; there is nothing more to do. If we cannot deliver it, the order ends as Failed and the charge goes back to your balance. See Refunds: what comes back, where it goes, how to ask.
