Closing your account
Updated 2 min read
You can leave whenever you want. Closing is handled by a person, so nothing disappears the moment you ask. If you have unused paid balance, ask for it back before the account is closed.
Ask to close it
Either way works:
- From the dashboard. Open the account menu, choose My account, go to Security, and click Delete account at the bottom. Type
DELETEand click Delete account in the dialog. This records your request; your account, balance and anything you are running stay exactly as they are until we have dealt with it. No confirmation link is emailed: a person reviews the request, and we email you once the account has been closed. - By email. Write to support@proxyhive.io from the email address on the account and say you want it closed.
There is no subscription to cancel first. Nothing is charged between orders unless you turned on automatic deposits or automatic renewal, so switch those off if you are only pausing; see Automatic deposits and Renewing ISP and datacenter IPs.
What happens to your money
- Unused paid balance: ask for it back on your original payment method before the account is closed, by writing to support@proxyhive.io from the account's email address. That refund takes longer than a balance credit, and the delete dialog warns that remaining balance is not refundable to a deleted account, so make the request first.
- Traffic you have used and ISP or datacenter terms that have already run are not refundable.
- Anything you did not pay for, such as promotional credit, is not paid out.
The detail is in Refunds: what comes back, where it goes, how to ask.
Pausing instead
Your balance does not expire, so you can stop using the service and come back to it later. ISP and datacenter addresses end with their term unless renewed, so turn Auto-buy off on any you no longer need.
