Setup guides for browsers, languages and tools
Updated 2 min read
Every guide below lives on our site and walks through one client from a blank config to a working request, including the errors that client tends to throw. The full index is on the integrations page.
Whatever the guide, the values come from the proxy's Connection card in the dashboard: host, port, username and password, or no credentials at all if the proxy uses the IP allowlist. Put them where the guide shows HOST, PORT, USERNAME and PASSWORD. If a guide and your proxy page disagree, for example about which port goes with which protocol, follow the proxy page.
Languages and HTTP clients
Headless browsers and scraping frameworks
Browsers and operating systems
Chrome, Firefox, Windows, macOS, Ubuntu, iPhone and Android.
Proxy managers, antidetect browsers and other tools
- Proxy managers: FoxyProxy, SwitchyOmega, Proxifier and Shadowrocket.
- Antidetect browsers: AdsPower, Dolphin Anty, GoLogin, Incogniton, Kameleo, Multilogin and Octo Browser.
- Other tools: Postman, n8n, Octoparse, ParseHub and Screaming Frog.
Two traps worth knowing first
- Chrome-based browsers cannot take a username and password on the command line, and cannot authenticate to SOCKS5 at all. Where your proxy offers the IP allowlist, it avoids both problems. See Using an IP allowlist instead of credentials.
- Java's built-in HTTP client refuses Basic credentials inside an HTTPS tunnel by default, so every HTTPS request gets a 407 until you set one system property. The Java guide shows it.
