The two proxy checkers: what sites see, and which proxies answer

Updated 2 min read

There are two free checkers, and they answer different questions. The one on our site shows what a website sees from your browser. The one in the dashboard tests whether a list of proxies answers at all.

What does a site see from my browser?

  1. Turn your proxy on in the browser.
  2. Open the proxy checker on our site and click Check my connection.
  3. Read the four results:
    • Address: the IP our server saw. Through a proxy, that is the proxy's exit.
    • Network: who announces that address, and a guess at whether it is a hosting network or a home provider. The page says when it is guessing.
    • WebRTC: whether the browser hands a page a second public address. One that differs from the proxy's usually means your own connection is leaking.
    • Headers: any header that names a proxy or passes on an earlier address.

The same page gives a curl line that runs the check from a terminal, without a browser. Nothing is sent until you press the button, and results are not stored.

A clean result does not mean a site cannot spot you: sites also read TLS and browser fingerprints, cookies and behaviour, which this page does not test.

Do my proxies answer?

  1. In the dashboard, open Tools > Proxy checker.
  2. Choose a tab:
    • My proxies: pick proxies from your account, no credentials to paste.
    • Any proxy list: paste a list, one per line, and set Protocol and Proxy format to match it.
  3. Click Begin test. Up to 100 proxies are checked per run.

Each result shows the exit IP, location, status code and speed, and whether the proxy answered. The test does not touch your balance. If the page says "We could not run this check", nothing was tested; try again a little later.

If a proxy of yours fails, see A proxy stopped working: tell us from the dashboard.
