Residential proxies: rotating IPs, billed by the gigabyte
Updated 2 min read
Residential is coming soon and cannot be ordered yet. This page describes how it works. ISP and datacenter proxies are on sale now: see Residential, ISP or datacenter: picking the line for the job.
Each request leaves from an address a consumer internet provider assigned to a home connection. You connect to one gateway with one username and password, and the pool picks the exit. You pay per gigabyte, and there is no minimum beyond a single gigabyte.
Who it is for
- Catalogue and marketplace collection at volume.
- Search results that challenge datacenter ranges.
- Crawls that want their requests spread over many exits.
Who it is not for
- Jobs that must leave from a named country, city or network. Residential has no location selection; see Can I choose the country on residential?.
- Bulk file transfer, where per-gigabyte billing adds up fast.
- Logins that expect the same address for weeks. Use ISP proxies: static IPs on a carrier you name.
How it behaves
- Rotation: the pool picks the exit, and you always connect to the same gateway. See Rotation, sticky sessions, and which to pick.
- Protocol and port: the proxy page shows which protocol your proxy uses and the port that goes with it.
- Endpoint and credentials: on the proxy's page in the dashboard. See Connecting to residential.
Billing
Per gigabyte, counting traffic in both directions. Bigger orders earn a lower rate per gigabyte. Each order's traffic shows on its proxy page, and more can be added at any time. The rate ladder is on the residential pricing page.
How ordering will work: Buying residential traffic and adding more.
